It has been more than a year since BASO took birth as an idea. It laid dormant for a long time beneath the earth. That was the time when the idea of BASO was taking shape. There was a very strong will behind the idea, but transition from an idea to a programme was something that took a lot of time. The idea of BASO got registered as a non profit company on 28 February 2008. Today we are just a few steps away from opening our first library.
BASO is a very fast expanding family. We at BASO feel that it’s a collective endeavor where you can come and participate by being a part of it. Everybody can participate and contribute in his/her own special way. So we in BASO family have people who have helped it grow from an idea to a programme. There are others who contributed there time and resources in getting it registered with Registrar of Companies. Some others contributed books for the first BASO library and some of them decided to contribute money to run BASO programmes.
It’s impossible to name each and everyone. Some of us want to work silently and don’t want to be named so I have to respect their sentiments also. But there are others whose contribution to the cause has been great and not mentioning their names will be difficult. This journey would have been longer and hard had they not come along. Everybody’s contribution is very-very special in its own special way. I find it my duty to introduce BASO family members to each other. So, next few posts will be about you all, one by one. I will also keep you posted about developments at BASO. BASO accounts and list of donated books and donors will also be posted very soon. These two things will be updated on a regular basis.
